CLEANING SALE. The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association of !s.Z., Ltd., report having held on Thursday last, a most successful clearing' sale on account of Mr \. H. Anderson at his homestead, Mt. Wallace Farm, near Stirling. The large gathering of farmers and buyers from North Otago, Dunedin, Tnieri, Tokomairiro, Tuapeka, Clinton, Owaka and surrounding districts bore evidence to the popularity of the vendor, and to his reputation as owner and brooder of high class horses, sheep and cattle. The breeding ewes and dry sheep -which weie offered in big lots sold up to 18/4, Border Leicester rams, 2-tooth and ram lambs sold up to 2 guineas. The large herd of 50 dairy cows met with keen competition and sold up to Cl 3 2/f>. The number is too largo to give individual prices, but 5 cows made the following : £l3 2/G, £l3, £ll 5/, £ll and £lO 5/, averaging £ll 12/fi ; aid the aver- , age price for 22 of the h'erd, nearly all lof which were spring oalvers Has £8 12/9. 34 2-yr-old heifers (spring cal- , vers) averaged £5 1/, 12 forward cows I £s 10/, 24 steers £4 10/ to £4 16/, 27 yearling heifers to £3 IS/, 28 steers and heifers (mixed) £2 10/ and a number of drv cows and young cattle from £2 10/ to '£4 5/, young bulls to £4 15/. The horses were a splendid lot and realised high prices ; a well turned rising three-year-old filly sired bv Baron Mitchell,'claim by Extinguisher and stinted to Shepherd Lad, fell to the bid of Mr Geo. Anderson at £GO, and another nice quality rising 3-yr-old iilIv by the same sire went at £sl to Mr fames Paul, Milton. The working horses, marcs and geldings sold up to I £45, and the unbroken draughts, ■ hacks and harness horses made high I prices. The implements, harness, etc. ' all brought full market values, and a - thouffh the auctioneers made tort selling it was dark before the large list was disposed of.
