WHARETOA SCHOOL.
CONCERT AND DANCE. On Friday evening a concert and dance was held in aid of the Wharctoa School in the River Board's shed at. Upper Clydevale. Although the weather was not very promising early in the evening it changed about ,7 p.m., enabling a good crowd to assemble from the surrounding districts. The Chairman, ffll.r McDonald, opened proceedings with a few remarks as to the object of the entertainment, the programme being made up of the followng items:—Pianoforte duet, Miss J. B. and Mr Allan Bennyi; song duet, Miss Weir and Mr Blair ; gramophone selection, Mr Hipkins ; song Miss Mary Murray ; song, Mr Lucas ; recitation, Mr Blair; song, Miss Heatley ; song, Mr Kierney ; pianoforte duet, Misses Wilson ; song, Miss Webb ; song Mr ! Christie; recitation, Mr Jack Mitchell;' [selection (violin, flute and pianoforte), I Mrs Mitchell, Messrs Poole and Fried. ; i A dialogue entitled "Muggins, M-P." which was well put on by local dramatic talent concluded the programme. The floor was then cleared for dancjing, which was kept going to the music of Miss Drain and Mr McCorkindale until the small nours of the morning. thank the performers, musicians, and those who provided the supper, also the River Board .for the üb© of the shed. The net proceeds will amount to about £l2.
