PEERS' SALARIES.

According to a printed parliamentary reply made by Mr Lloyd George (Chancellor of tlio Exchequer) to Mr Kcllaway, Liberal M.P. for Bedford, about 120 members of the House of Lords are in receipt of salaries and pensions from the Slate. Of these 16 receive salaries as members of his Majesty's household. Fourteen are paid from the Consolidated Fund, among them the Earl of Mansfield, who receives £97 a year as usher of the Order of the Thistle, and the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, whose salary is £45 10s as hereditary Keeper of Holyrood Palace. Pensions from the Consolidated Fund are paid annually to 14 peers, these payment, including £6OOO a year to Earl Nelson for the services rendered to his -country by his great-uncle, the illustrious Admiral; and £4OOO a year to Viscount Peel, late Speaker of the House of Commons.

The political pensions, include £I2OO to Lord Balfour of Burleigh. Among the Naval pensioners is Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, who receives £2OOO and among the pensions in the Civil Service vote is that of Lord Cromer, who receives £9OO ft year.
