Lord Kitchener has cahled to all the newspapers in India denying that he is engaged to be married (says an exchange)., As an outcome of the trouble at a recent meeting of the T. E. Taylor Memorial Committee .the Mayor of Christehurch (Mr J. J. Douga.ll) has resigned from the committee. His lettor of resignation was considered at a private meeting of the committee and it was decided to accept the resignation with regret.
