RECONCILIATION IN COURT.
♦ The wife of George Staples, employed at Claridge's Hotel, summoned her husband at Willesden on June 21 for assault. Mrs Staples, a fashionably attired young woman, said that while playing with her husband he suddenly got cross and struck lier very hard with his cricket belt. Mr Luke, the magistrate, said that in spite of modern doctrines he thought a wife should hold herself in certain subjection to her husband. A young wife, especially when she was so attractive in appearance, was often in a dangerous position when separated from her husband, and he hoped there would be reconciliation. The wife on hearing this burst into tears and said she would like to forgive her husband and go back to him. Husband and wife eventually left the court together, smiling happily. LAME BACK. This ailment is usually caused by rheumatism of the musles and may be cured by applying Chamberlain's Pain Balm two or three times a day and rubbing the part vigorously at each application. If it does not afiord relief bind on a piece of flannel dampened with Chamberlain's Pain Balm and relief is sure to follow. Sold by G. W. Hutchins, chemist, Balclutha.
