HOCKEY BALL.
J he annual ball, under the auspices of the Balclutha Ladies' Hockey (Hub was held in the Oddfellows' Hall 0 n '■ l\T dlly <>vcnin tf' '''here were about im) present. The hall was artistically, decorated with hockey sticks and greenery, etc., and the stage? was used by chaperons and non-dancers. Music was supplied by Messrs ales and Beath, of Dunedin, in their usual good style. Several of the'dresses worn were very handsome and attractive, being much admired. The grand march was led oil' by the popular president, Mr Gunthorp, with Mis Gunthorp. Aj dainty supper, supplied by the hockey girls, was laid in the back room. During the supper, several extra dances were given by Misses McCorley, Flo. Guest, also a lovely waltz played bv Miss Mooney, which was much'appreciated. A number of visitors came from Milton, Clinton and Clydi*valc. Dances were kept going until .') p.m. Messrs .luvk Fleming. Robertson and (been made ' excellent M'sC. and altogether the ball proved a most enjoyable function, for which the committee, and in particular the energetic secretary (Miss Flo. Guest) must be congratulated.
