HOCKEY.
The Balelutha hockey girls played a match against, a men's team from the f!olf Club on Wednesday, and at the conclusion of an interesting and hardfought game—particularly on the part of the sterner eleven—the golfers were "two down." Most of the men were attired in skirts, but that did not matter much, ax they soon had them hitched up to a convenient height. The golfers were inclined to go in for "driving" and Mr Robertson as referee was every few minutes calling "sticks" for too high swings of the golfers who were attempting "brassie" shots and "foozling" not a few. The rule of no sticks raised above the shoulder was an insurmountable bunker to the men. Some long shots were got in, but when it came to the "putt" the posts were always where the ball was not. The girls played with good combination and finished four up, Misses.Malcolm, Kiernan and McDonald (2) scoring, while Bishop scored for the men with a brilliant cleok shot, and following some exciting play in front of the posts the men again scored. The attendance was poor and only a little over a pound was collected for the Coronation Park fund.
