A MOUSE IN A PIE.
A lady who was lunching at a Melbourne restaurant a day or two ago discovered a mouse's head in a mutton pie : she was eating. Needless to say, the pie was not eaten, hut other pies were. ; Ity other customers. 1 Kvidence submitted to the Health : Department did not indicate whether I the remainder of the mouse was eon- ' iined to the pie, or whether it Was dis- | tributed over n batch of pies. Still, as mince, it .would, perhaps, be indistmI guisliable from mutton. | Further, the public has the comforting assurance of the health inspector ■ that the conditions are. not very bad in i the eitv' kitchens, and that rats are few i as compared with the number which | frequented restaurants a few years ago. I Inspection is to be made of the quarters in which the pies were manufactured. Possibly, the inspectors will be able to give a satisfyinß assurance that mice in pies are not many, as compared with the numberafew ywa agp.
