When Mr Herbert Gladstone entered Jio 10, Downing street, the other morn- ; n „' to attend the Cabinet meeting it «as observed that he carried in his hand what appeared to be a harmless black roll about 18in to 2ft in length and about liu in diameter. In reality it was a short stick, which had given the Home Secretary some anxiety, haying been thrown at him through a window, it is alleged, by a suffragist at a meeting he was recently addressing, llie B issile did not strike the Home Secretary. The word "bomb" was inscribed in white letters upon it. The '"bomb wa s a subject of considerable interest to the Ministers who attended the Council.
