CONCERT AT KAITANGATA.

A grand vocal and instrumental concert was given in the Presbyterian Church Hall on Thursday evening* by the Misses Thomas (Gore), assisted by Miss M. G. Frazer (pianist), and Messrs Waymouth and O'Connor (vocalists). Half the proceeds were in aid oi the Kaitangata Hospital. The attendance was not so largo as it might have been, but this might be accounted for by the concert not being well enough known to the public. A firstclass programme was provided, consisting of songs, duets, and instrumental music, and those who wended their way thither, in anticipation of having a musical treat, were not disappointed. Although the programme was of usual length, the number of performers were limited to uix, including accompanists. The Misses Thomas had the heaviest part of the programme, as out of IS items these two ladies supplied 13, besides several encores, winch was a very heavy night's work indeed. Both ladies were in excellent voice, the several ' items being rendered with taste and precision. Miss J. Thomas, who is not a stranger to a Kaitangata audience, has an excellent voice, which , she uses to the best advantage. Her lower register is something to be proud of, and may some day placo her in the very front rank of contralto singers. As a violinist, sho gives promise of being a good deal above the average. One of the best items of the evening was tho song, "JJearest heart," by Miss Thomas. Miss Grazer did her part at tho piano very creditably for ono so young. The singing of Mr Waymouth and Mr O'Connor is so well known that it need not be enlarged upon, sullice it to say that they were both in exeellent voice.
