PRESENTATION TO CANON DODO.
There was a large attendance at St. Paul's Church, Kaitangata, on Friday evening for the purpose of bidding farewell to Canon Dodd, who is leaving here to-day to take charge of the Mosgiel parish. Mr Kirby presided, and on behalf of the congregation and friends presented the rev. gentleman with a travelling bag and rug as a small token of the eßteem in which the recipient is held in the district. Canon Dodd, in reply, reviewed his services amongst them during the past 20 years, and thanked them all for the uniform kindness and courtesy he had always received at their hands; and concluded by thanking them for their handsome present, and also with best wishes for the future of the Church in the district. Mr Yates spoke in eulogistic terms of the rev. gentleman's services, and of the sense of loss they would experience in losing Canon Dodd. Dr Fitzgerald spoke in a similar strain, referring to his past friendship with the rev. gentleman, and concluded by wishing the Canon, his wife, and family all health, happiness, and prosperity in their future.
