STIRLING.
CFrom Our Own Correspondent.) There is no use growling about the weather, as I expect you are having the same kind of samples that we are having here, but I think we have indeed some reason to growl at the st/ate of our roads and footpaths. Some of our streets are simply impassable, and, to crown all, the council started some time ago to form a footpath from the railway line to 'the top of the hill, hut so far only the earth work has been played with, and now it is left for people to slip and slide and. lounder about on. It was far better the way it was than in its present state. It is high time our member for the Council was doing something in the way of attending to the wants of the township. It is a patent lact to all here that there is only one
aa.ii who can attendto the work of the ridiig, and in such a way that it ie doubtful if satisfactory. We are to have a. church social here on the 25th ins'fc., in the Chuicii Hall, in aid of hall funds, lor the which- we are hoping for a good night and a big houseful of people.
We are to have an unusual occurence nere next week in the shape o) a wedding in the • church, the contracting parties being Miss Butteis and Mr D. Shaw, both of Stirling Our Bruce auction in aid 1 of tile Athenaeum takes place in the' bail on Saturday night, the 19th inst. Stirling, 16—7—02,
