The Clutha Leader. BALCLUTHA: TUESDAY, MAY 7, 1901.
Tim want of a hall in Lalclutha, suitable for the requirements of the p'aco, lias been a serious drawback for a very considerable time. Though repeated, and well-meant efforts have from time to time been made to satisfy the want, they all failed cither from inability to raise the necessiry funds or through disagreement over the question of site. Oonlid-nc! was, however, inspired when the members of the Loyal Dalton Lodge, M.L.1.0.0.F., took the matter in hand ; and from the business-like winin which they wont about generally believed that e result would follow. In n I us say that if local emiies interest:".! in similar proposals, would go about the preliminaries in the same methodical and business-like manner, there would he less cause £«;• dissatisfaction than there sometimes is. Last Tuesday night's meeting' of the Oddfellows justified expectation;-'., and the members deserve to be, congratulated on tin* progressive and public-spirited decision they t>um arrived at. They have- manifested confidence in themselves as welt as in the future of the township.
