■ •» The Gisborne Women's Political Association have resolved—" That steps be taken in conjunction with kindred association in New Zealand, to petition Parliament in fay.our of legislation being passed upon the following subjects, and to urge Ministers to endeavour to get passed such legislation :— (1) To remove all disabilities whiek at present hinder women sitting as members in either branch of the Legislature or from being elected or appointed to any public office or position whiclimen may hold, and with regard to all powers, rights, duties, and piivileges of citizens to declare absolute equality to be the law of the land for both men and women ; (2) to readjust or re-cast the marriage laws of the colony upon the principle of complete equality and the economic independence of men and women ; (3) to alter the law of divorce only in as far as to put the husband and. wife on precisely the same footing as to a. dissolution of the marriage tie." •
