INCH CLUTHA RIVER AND ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary bi-monthly meeting ; of tho above board was held on Thursday evening. There were present — Messrs Rutherford (chairman), M'Donald, and . Smith. , A letter was read from the chairman Bruce County Council with reference to work being carried out on main centre road. Inch Clutha. — Received. Mr A. Waite wrote drawing attention to the necessity of giving him an outlet for drainage from his land. — Mr M'Donald reported that the matter had been attended to. The Chairman reported that he had ordered 1000 ft of 12in boards and scantling 4 by 3 for slabbing part <>f the new drain at the lower ?.ud of the island. The inspector's report on the progress of the drain at the lower end of the island showed that the contractor had made satisfactory progress with tho work, having about completed contracts No. 4 and 5, about 50 chains, and recommended a progress payment of L 75 on the work. — Approved. It was moved by Mr M'Donald f»nd seconded by Mr Smith- " That the treasurer make arrangements with the manager of the Colonial Bank to borrow by way of overdraft a sum not exceeding last year's rates. The clerk was instructed to write the subscribers to the auxiliary drainage scheme at tliG lower end of tha Island requesting payment of their respective subscriptions. It was moved by Mr Smith and seconded by Mr M' Donald—" That the Inch Clutha River and Road Board's vote of L6O towards the erection of the groin at the top of the Island be paid the Clutha River Board, and that the Inch Clutha River and Road Board hopes the River Board will see its way to complete the work at its earliest convenience." Accounts amounting to L 215 15s were passed for payment. This was all the business and the meeting closed.
