Wheat.— Stocks on hand are gradually decreasine, and millers being cognisant of the facb that the supply of southern-grown wheat will bo very much short of requirements are buying more freely, and, although prices cannot be said to have undergone any material alteration, there has been some little increase in the business done. Prime milling velvet is scarce, and prices for that description may be quoted as slightly firmer. Inferior and medium milling is also in fair request. Good whole fowls' wheat is scarce and firmer. Quotations : For prime milling velvet 2s lOd to 2s lid— choice a shade more ; medium to good do and Tuscan 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; medium to good red wheat 2s 5d to *?s 7d ; medium to good whole fowls' wheat 2s Id to 2s 4d • inferior and broken Is v)J to 2s (ex store, ssclcs weighed in, terms). Oats —Although there is a very noticeable decrease in the quantity coming forward the demand is somewhat easier and no sales of any kind can be effected except at a reduction on late rates. Barley. — N"o demand of any consequence for any description. Grass Seeds. — No demand of any importance. Market quieter. Potatoes —Market remains very flat, the supply being still excessive. Sales are difficult to effect except in retail lots. Quotations : For best Derwents L2 to L2ss ; medium LI 15s ro L' 2; prime kidneys (for seed) 111 17s 6d to L 3 10s per ton (ex store, sacks weighed in, net). Dairy Produce.— Demand confined to local trade requirements, only a retail business passing—prime salt butter, dairy made fetching 7d to 8d ; medim 4d to 6d ; factory made 9d to lOd per )b. Factory made cheese : Medium size 4^d to 4§b ; loaf do 4sd to sd ; dairy made 'id to 4d per lb. Eggs: Getting more plentiful and easier in price.
