4 The following is a list of subjects sug- ' gested for discussion at the annual ■ meeting of the National Dairy Associa- ! tion of New Zealand, opened at Dun- j edin yesterday : — 1. That all factories, North and j South Island, should join and work | with this Association, who, through i their secretaries in Wellington, Auck- j land, and Christchurch, shall manage i and arrange for all shipments, and carry on its work, as done in the past, for the mutual benefit of all its members, under the control of committee in Dunedin. 2. That a fortnightly service of ' steamers to London should be arranged j for by the Association. j 3. That the question of cold storage j at the ports of shipment is an urgent one, and that the Government now having the matter under consideration, it should be pointed out that unless stores are ready for next season the the dairy industry will suffer great loss. 4. That the most modern cool cars for butter should be provided by the Railway Commissioners, and that, in the interest of settlement all over New Zealand, special facilities in the way of cheap and effective railage for milk and all dairy produce should be provided. 5. That the manufacture of first-class butter and cheese in New Zealand is the matter that should engage the attention of dairy experts, and that they should occupy their time in teaching cheese and butter making. 6. That the Government should place one or more of the dairy experts at the disposal of, and under the control of, this Association. 7. That teaching should be carried on in New Zealand on the lines indicated in this Association's letter to the secretary Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society, May 16, 1894. 8. That the Association should arrange for one chamber for butter in all the steamers to be kept at a temperature of 40 to 50 degrees, , ,

9. That the Dairy Industry Act should be so amended as to give Government inspectors power to — (a) Grade and mark butter and cheese according to quality. (A) Prevent the shipment of bad or adulterated cheese or butter or to have power to mark it. as bad dradulterated. 10. That a committee be appointed to consider the Dairy Act and suggest amend ments and improvements. 11. That this Association should appoint a committee to regulate the price of milk in the different districts, -so as to prevent undue or unreasonable competition for milk by the various factories.
