Colonial butter (May 19) is quoted as 925. Cold stores capable of storing 2,000 tons of butter and cheese are being erected in Tooley street. The English wheat market is declining and showing increased weakness while the Continental and American show a general declinp. Eor forward shipment of Australian wheat sellers are asking 24s 3d, but buyers refuse to give more than 23s 3d. Eor Australian wheat on the passage sellers want 235, but buyers will not give more'than 22s 6d. Cargoes of Victorian and South Australian wheat have been sold at 22s 3d. Superfine New Zealand flour is now bringing 17s per 2801b. Colonial oats : Fine qualitv, 26s ; common quality, 235. Beans, 30s 6d. Peas, 25s 3d. Senator Lodge moved in the United States Senate for a committee to inquire into the report that the sugar trust bribed Senators to secure votes in favour of the tariff. The motion was ' carried, Professor Morris, of Melbourne, in a letter to the Times, appeal for funds for the Melbourne unemployed.
