The Marquis of Ripon, Secretary for the Golonies, has informed Sir W, B. Perceval that the Imperial Government are quite willing to accord Sir George Grey every recognition in honor of his valuable services to the State. . The Colonial Institute intend to entertain him at a banquet. The Imperial Institute also are desirous of giving him a public reception, and the Agentgeneral of New Zealand will consult Sir George Grey on the matter. Sir George is delighted with the warm welcome lie received on his arrival Home, and is especially pleased with the reception accorded him by Lords R-ipon, Salisbury, and Knutsford. On account of the state of his health he has declined the dinner at which the colonial members of the House of Commons proposed to entertain him. It has been decided to raise the freights to the colonies half-a-crown all round. The new rates come into operation on the Ist of next month,The Czar was requested by the countries forming the Triple Alliance to convene a congress to consider the advisability of a general disarmament throughout Europe, but he refused to entertain the suggestion, unless Germany and France first abandoned their quarrel. It is reported she has confessed to the murders.
