THE MYSTERY OF SUFFERING.

«, The question has often been asked, 'Do hearts ever break 1 ? •Is it simply a metaphorical expression, or a grim truth V The saying itself is so common that very little attention is paid to it, and so we find in one instance, at all events, that familiarity breeds contempt. Has this thing a physical basis, in addition to being of poetic imagination 1 It seems remarkable that the heart should be cloven under any circumstances whatever. One thing is certain, only an abnormal condition of things could bring about such a result. All suffering is a huge mystery. Recent physiological experiments have enabled great physicists to uncover the brain of certain animals and observe its working under the stimulus of the electric current; whether its action under such excitement is the same as whom the brain is in violent pain is hard to tbll. One thing seems evident, under paroxysms of pain the molecules must become tremendously excited. It is quite possible that the brain and the heart, being subtily related, become the centres of shock and confusion when any part of the body is in great suffering. That being so, it does not appear after all such an extraordinary thing for the heart to break, upon fche receipt of startling news, occasioning intense suspense, pain, or joy. The whole mechanism of the body becomes violently agitated, the hearts becomes a pent-up flood, and a d elm urn of excitement and intense pain takes instant possession of the brain and heart, which cleaves it in twain, producing immediate death. What a transformed world this would be, if sickness and pain were smitten out of existence ! And yet while we dread suffering, we live in the. very manner that is likely to produce it. Instead of nipping incipient diseases in the bud, we allow them to ravage the body, and when we become alarmed by these attacks we seek change of scene and climate in the hope of checking their course. Two-thirds of the sufferera of our race might be delivered from their pains and diseases if early treatment were adopted. It is incontestable that very much of the suffering of the present day arises from disordered liver and kidneys. How frequently it is said, Oh, 'tis only a sluggish liver, you will soon get right ; or you only have deranged kidneys, don't alarm yourself. It is high time men and women knew that sluggish liver and deranged kidneys never right themselves. Under organic law, the bad becomes worse, the acute becomes chronic, and the ailment the disease. Warner's Safe Cure without donbt is the premier medicine of the age for all such diseases. It never fails in giving relief. Its success in the past demonstrates its right to exist in the present, and its further success of to-day ensures still greater conquests in the future. Multitudes of persons have gratefully testified to the beneficial results obtained by using Warner's Safe Cure. In no single instance has the preparation, taken according tc directions, proved oflensive or injurious to any system, while the numbei of cures directly traceable to that greai specific unmistakeably prove its worth, Warner's Safe Pills should never be forgotten, As a mild corrective, cooler ' of the blood, and a preventitive againsi sick headache and bilious attacks, thej are unapproachable.
