"fHE Piafolic Trust ©fface of •' WeWf ZeaSaJSHdl is a Government institution to afford, at low rates Of * commission, a secure anil convenient recourse for those who, dosirous of forming trusts in the colony, cannot satisfactorily appoint private trustees or executors, aud for persons unablo or unwilling to undertake or continue the administration of the trusts accepted by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by " The Public Trust Office Act, 1872," has been since much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. The Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates ad--1 ministration, authorises prompt distribution. provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at the discretion of the Public Trustee, aud insures the regular payment of the interest. The Security and Fidelity of tho Pub. lie Trustoo's administration must be considered of tho utmost importance to every person contemplating tho appointment of a trustee. The colony guarantees the fidelity of the administration, and Guarantees also '■ the integrity of the Capital Funds . invested at the option of the Public Trustee. The- Colony Guarantees also, on the capital func^s arising for investment out of the properties placed in the Public Trust Office, a common rate of interest, to be paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The valuo of this guarantee is in the Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or insufficient securi- ; ties, and against loss from delay in invostruout, and for the regular and punctual payment of the interest, free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. In tlie appointment of Trustees there must always be sen OUS concern as to the security of the Capital funds J and the larger the capital funds the greater must be the concern for security, and the less for a high rate of interest. The Public Trustee cannot die, cftimot leave the colony, cauuot become disqualified, or involved in private difficulties; and cannot be distrusted. In private trusteeships, death and absence render necessai-y numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, tho office solicitor's advice without expense to the estates. By all who kuow or have experienceel the contingencies of private trusteeships these advantages must be appreciated.
