CASE OF REV. 0. CONNOR,. TO. THE EDITOR. Sir — The Olutha Presbytery has thought fit to give to the world their decision that they recommend me to resign my present charge. Aa they have not ventured to give the "report" or "reports" upon which this finding is based, I may be allowed to mention — with the yj.ew of quiet- I ing 'the fears of my numerous friends — • that it has been stated over and over again that no one has either any accusation against either my character or ministry ; that no private or public or personal offence has been assigned either by the Presbytery or the people. The members i of Presbytery have spoken in most ffattering terms of my character and ability as a minister of the gospel. If, therefore, there is anything wrong, neither the Presbytery nor the people have dared to make it the ground of an accusation against me. I have been honoured in the discharge of . I my duty as • a minister to maintain sound doctrine — at least, what Presbyterians call sound doctrine ; and I shall reckon myself equally honoured if the ELead of the Church should be pleased to make me the means of shewing that a. Presbyterian minister in the conscientious and faithful discharge of his duty is entitled to the protection of the Church— that he ought not to be asked to resign his charge if there is no ground for an accusation against him. I have asked the Presbytery, collectively and individually, if theyhave found any just pause of complaint against me, and the invariable reply has been, "No ; we; have not." Why. then should Ibe asked to/resign ? ; , I knpwythe answerthat will -;;be^given,^u'^jit-- iis-fnot': one that, satisfjijr^ -tbjjcomply^^ ;be ■ a/CTe~atVdea^^^ 3jw§y?.*yysettie<ij|i^
