BOARD OF CONSERVATORS, INCH CLUTHA RIVER DISTRICT.
A meeting of the Inch Clutha River Board was held in the Schoolliouse on Saturday afternoon, at 2.30. There were present Messrs Mosley (chairman), Anderson, Willocks, Smaill, and Bell. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Chairman reported having on Monday gone to Dunedin, as requested, with the view of waiting on Mr Thomson in reference to the Inch Olutha Island Bill, but found that Mr Thomson left Dunedin a few hours before his arrival for Wellington. It was therefore resolved to communicate with Mr Thomson 'by post. The following tenders were accepted for river embankment :— ISfo. Sb— John Frazer, 9d per yard. No. 2a— Upper half of contract, Smith Brothers, L 4 2s 6d per chain ; lower half of cobtract, Smith Brothers, L 9 3s per chain. No. 4a— John Bell, ll£d per yard. No. 5a and 6a— Hunter and Co, , lid per yard. No. 7a— William Neale, L 4 5s per chain. No. 3c— Robert Gray, 7d per yard. No. sc— William Carson and Co. , lid per yard. Several tenders were received for other contracts, which the Board considered too high. Fresh tenders to be called for same within a month.
It was resolved that Mr Anderson and the Clerk prepare an approximate estimate of work now being carried out by the Board, and report at special meeting on Saturday, the 21st, at 2.30 p.m. The meeting then adjourned.
