. A. Merger reports for the week ending May 17, as follows :—- Retail prices only.—Fresh butter, in 1 lb prints, Is 4d to ls 6d per lb ; fresh butter in lumps, ls 3d • powdered and salt butter,. Is 3d per lb. Fresh butter at this season of the year has been more plentiful than it has been for many years, which has kept the prices from advancing. 1 Salt butterm kegs, Is Id to Is 2d per lb, but at present no demand. Cheese of the best quality, lOd to ls; Jinghsh and American cheese,. Is " 4d, but no" demand. ; Side'and rolled bacon, lOd to lid per Tii- B- Pi ham ' 9d"» En Slisll ham, ls 4d. • Eggs, still scarce, but,not much in demand owiug .to * the high price, 3s: 3d to 3s 6d per doz.
