Henry added to squad The outstanding young Timaru heptathlete, Joanne Henry, is one of four emerging track and field talents to be drafted into the Chelsea Sugar athletic development squad. Henry, aged 18. will be joined by Paul Gibbons (Auckland) and the Hastings pair, Richard Potts and Briar Toop, in the squad of 37. All four have gained selection in the New Zealand team for next month’s Commonwealth Games in Auckland. They have also met the required standard for the world junior games in Bulgaria next August. Wigan keeps lead NZPA-AFP London Wigan, the British rugby league club coached by Australian John Monie, stayed at the forefront of the title race yesterday by demolishing injury-hit St Helens, 38-6. Other division one results were: Featherstone 15, Wakefield 8; Hull 15, Sheffield 6; Leeds 25, Castleford 18; Leigh 18, Salford 10; Widnes 32, Warrington 20; Wigan 38, St Helens 6. 13 yachts finish Thirteen of the seventeen yachts which started the annual Lyttelton to Akaroa Harbour race, finished the event under sail late on Tuesday evening, in an event which was hampered by light winds. Southern Fun was the first across the line in an elapsed time of 9hr 30min 7s, seven and a half minutes clear of the second-placed Party Time. Rock-a-bye was third across the line in an elapsed time of 9:40.45, followed by Natural Magic a further half an hour behind. Bootlegger was fifth in 10:32.39. Carina was the first yacht after handicap times were subtracted. Rock-a-bye was second, Bachus II third, Vamoss fourth and Party Time fifth on handicap.
