F k The ball joints identified as Part Number 9943967, which were supplied between J n] May 1989 and November 1989 may fail in service, resulting in collapse of the y front suspension. | If your vehicle model is listed below and if front suspension repair p work was performed between May 1989 and November 1989, or if . | you have purchased such a vehicle which may have had front f . suspension repair work performed during this period, your vehicle . | may be affected. p k Vehicles Affected * The suspect ball joint will suit Holden models manufactured during the period F from 1965 to 1984, and includes the foillowing Holden, Torana, Sunbird and h Statesman models. 4 " Holden: HD, HR, HK, HT HG, HQ, HJ. HX, HZ, WB " k Statesman Caprice &de Ville: HQ, HJ, HX, HZ, WB 4 1 Torana: LC (6 cyl), LJ, LH, LX, UC F . Sunbird: All . I Nature of Potential Defect f k It has been found that the suspect ball joints may experience premature wear of internal components. This may cause reduction of steering control and eventual B ball stud separation from the housing, resulting in collapse of the front k suspension. 4 " Recommended Action by Vehicle " | Owners If you believe that your vehicle may be affected, you are urged to contact your h vehicle repairer or any General Motors Dealer. 4 " If it is confirmed that a suspect ball joint has been fitted, this will be replaced free k of charge, at the earliest possible date. 4 " Recommended Action by Vehicle " Repairers 4 Suspect lower control arm ball joints were supplied to General Motors Dealers’ || Parts and Accessories Departments during the period May 1989 and November 4 “ 1989, under the brand names Holden or TRW, respectively.
