Bi Light confirms place in Guineas
Otago correspondent
Bi Light confirmed a start in the Dunedin Guineas when she won the main heat at the Wingatui barrier trials yesterday.
"She has just kept improving.” said Brian Anderton, who trains the Noble Bijou — Lamp Light filly for Mary Dailey, of Prebbleton. Bi Light won the Show Gate Mile for three-year-old fillies at Washdyke at her last start on November 30.. She was handy to the pace over 1000 m on the course proper yesterday, moved up wide to take a narrow lead over her stablemate, Glowing Satin, at the 350 m and won comfortably by a long neck.
She ran the 1000 m on a soft track in 1:5.4, the last 800 m in 52.4. Cabaret made a useful showing for second with half a length to II Comandante, which continues to please in his comeback bid.
Fonderella showed she was back to her best after an infection when she won a heat for two-year-olds under a hold. Her time of 37.3 for the 600 m was I.3sec faster than Bridgehead returned in the other heat.
