Youth beaten, stabbed after accident—Crown
PA Wellington A young man was stabbed and beaten after a minor car accident in Masterton in June, the High Court in Wellington was told yesterday. A youth, aged 18, accidentally backed his car into a dilapidated Holden vehicle in the driveway of a Masterton house, the Crown prosecutor, Mr Kenneth Stone, told the jury. The Holden was not damaged, but three men arrived and one of them became very abusive and threatening, causing the young driver, Peter Garlick, to run off. He was caught, stabbed, beaten, and
kept captive over a long period, Mr Stone said. Four men are on trial, charged as a result, of the incident overnight on June 1 and 2. They are Corey Grant Geange, aged 19, Wayne Rimene, aged 18, Phillip Michael Reiri, aged 19, all unemployed of Masterton, and Kevin James Arnold, aged 25, a solo parent of Carterton. Geange pleaded guilty to wounding Mr Garlick with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Geange, Rimene and Reiri pleaded not guilty to carrying Mr Garlick off without his consent. Arnold and Rimene pleaded not guilty to wounding him with intent.
