Time to party
SUMMER evenings — end of year — festive functions. The best time for dressing up to party is here.
The really good news is the selection of dress-up fashions. In-season ranges are constantly arriving in the shops so no longer do we have to choose in September what we will wear in December.
The vexing question of what to wear where still remains, however. Everyone knows that strapless taffeta won’t do for the neighbour’s barbecue, but then again, what if the neighbour is upwardly mobile and the actual barbecuing is carried out by a chap in checked trousers and a tall white hat? Remember the maxim: keep it simple. When in doubt, palazzo pants and a
silk t-shirt meets most occasions with social ease. “Press Fashion’’ went shopping with the many occaisions for all .the different age groups in mind. First discovery was the number of Australian labels in our stores! Lovely clear colours and loads of style, but make sui“e the quality matches the price tag. Also noticeable was the number of grand occasion outfits. It looks like being a glamourous season. Wide legged pants — cropped and uncropped — will be first choice for many. Bare backs, low necklines, halter necklines and strapless styles should please the sunlovers. Predominant colours? Black and white, chartreuse, turquoise, mango, navy and purple. There has to be something in that line-up for everyone!
