Interest in library site
Asian and European investors are interested in buying the Library Chambers in Christchurch, the agent for the building’s sale says. Mr Chris Herbert, of Herbert and Company, said yesterday that there was reasonable interest from both local and overseas buyers. Tenders to buy the building, the former site of the Canterbury Public Library on the corner of Hereford Street and Cambridge Terrace, will close next Tuesday.
Mr Herbert said it was difficult to value the building, but judging by recent property sales in the city, the entire Library Chambers would be valued about $3.8 million.
