Sport Golf lead to Senior
NZPA-Reuter Melbourne Australia’s Peter Senior, using a putter almost as tall as himself, seized a three-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Australian Open golf championship yesterday. The long-handled putter, recently adopted by Senior to regain form, helped him to produce a second consecutive round of 66 which left him 12 under par on 132. Britain’s Nick Faldo, the United States Masters champion, is joint second on 135, while the Australian title-holder and British Open champion, Mark Calcavecchia and Curtis Strange, the United States Open champion, are one shot further back.
