For outstanding young prospects in Cantebury netball have been chosen to attend the Lemair national sports camps at the University of New England in New South Wales.

Belinda Blair, Elizabeth Kazmierczak, Bernice Mene and Karyn Pierce, all underage Canterbury representatives, have been awarded a Cloverlea scholarship and three of them will attend the course from January 14 to 20. Blair has been forced to pull out because she will be in Canada at the time.

Leigh Gibbs, and Margaret Taylor, the Canterbury coach and Canterbury under 21 coach respectively last

season, will accompany the girls. Margaret Corbett, a charismatic instigator of the course, is the new coach for the All Australia netball team for the demonstration game at the Auckland Commonwealth Games next year. She is renowned for her sound work with young players. The age-group for netball players is 14 to 17 years, but the limit varies for the other sport involved. The course is an intensive routine which runs from 7 a.m. until 9.30 p.m. every day. The University is on the outskirts of Armidale and is 1000 m above sea level.
