Merino prices improve

Prices improved at the Blenheim Merino fair compared with last year’s sale. Most of the yarding comprised annual draft wethers from the stations in the Awatere and Wairau valleys. Most buyers came from Blenheim and North Canterbury with a few from the North Island. Sales included:— Young sheep: W. R. Guerin (Grassmere), 292 wether hoggets at $31.25 to $37.50; Hawkswood Vineyards, 136 wether hoggets at $3l. Annual draft wethers: R. and S. Small (Haylocks), 364 at $34, 100 mixed aged at $3B; M. E.
