Prize in memory of Glenn Gould

Nominations are invited for the 1990 Glenn Gould Prize. An international prize, awarded for the first time in 1987, it is intended as a tribute by the people oi Canada to the life and work of the musician, Glenn Gould. The prize, which is awarded every three years, and consists of sCanso,ooo and a work of art by a Canadian artist.

The Glenn Gould Prize is intended to recognise an exceptional contribution to music and its communication, through the use of any communications technologies. Individuals from any country are eligible. They may come from a broad range of fields, including musical creation or performance, film, video, television, radio and recordings, music theatre, and writing. Candidates must be nominated by three specialists in their field or in a related field.

Each nomination must be accompanied by a signed

statement trom the nominee indicating a willingness to be considered for the Glenn Gould Prize; a three-to five-page description of the nominee’s distinguished contribution to music and its communication; a brief description of the nominee’s current activities; a copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae (including a list of publications, recordings, broadcasts, etc.); a list of six referees who could provide references at the request of the Canada Council; and a recent photograph of the nominee. Although examples of the nominee’s work are not required, nominators may choose to include them should they be appropriate.
