7.30 p.m. Video, “Health Our Responsibility” James Hay Theatre. This 26-minute video, made by the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation, outlines the work of a number of Christchurch medical researchers and the importance of research to local health services.
8 p.m. Presentations by medical researchers, James Hay Theatre.

Dr Rodney Ford, community paediatrician. Topic: “Cot Death Research.”

Associate Professor Robin Fraser, Department of Pathology,
Christchurch School of Medicine. Topic: “Alcohol and Liver Disease.”
Dr Rosemary Ikram, microbiologist, Christchurch and Princess Margaret hospitals. Topic: “Infection in Leukaemia.”
Dr Jane Chetwynd, Department of Community Health, Christchurch School of Medicine. Topic: “Prevention of AIDS.”
Young scientists, Dr Vicki Cameron, Dr Tony Kettle, Mark Inglis and Dr Christine Morris discuss their work.
Sir Lawrence Govan, president, Canterbury Medical Research Foundation.
Researchers are available to meet members of the public in the foyer of the Town Hall after the addresses.
Displays open until 10.30 p.m. Question and information booth — Dr Randall Allardyce. There will be a stall manned by the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation for membership inquiries. Admission fee: Donations for medical research welcome.
