Midwives’ role
Sir,—When it comes to the crunch it is always money that has the last say, and in extolling worthy midwives, B. Kennedy (November 15) ignores the size of the “pittance” that midwives can earn. Personally, I would have disliked intensely giving birth in the inferior type of working-class housing I oft-times lived in, unsuitable for mother or child; in any emergency, potentially disastrous. — Yours, etc.,
