Few good quality cattle on offer
A large yarding of mixed quality cattle was offered at the Addington saleyards yesterday. Few good quality cattle were offered in the adult section but prices for better stock remained firm on recent sales. Top steers sold at $620 to $7OO with occasional sales to $790 and medium steers sold at $550 to $6OO. Lighter steers met limited demand and sold at $470 to $5.20.
Top adult heifers made $550 to $620, with medium heifers at $4BO to $530, and lighter stock at $360 to $440. The top yearling steers and heifers came forward in good order and met keen demand. Some buyers sought the better heifers as breeding stock. Top yearling steers made $550 to $620 with medium steers at $450 to $520. Prices for lighter yearlings with light steers selling at $3BO to $420 and very light steers at $220 to $330.
The best heifers sold at $520 to $570 while medium heifers made $440 to $5OO. Light heifers made $320 to $3BO and very light heifers sold at $240 to $2BO.
