Ministry for Elderly
Sir,—Although dementia is t disease suffered by youngei people as well as the elderly, i was pleasing to read (Octobei 27) of political party interest in t Ministry for the Elderly. Tht elderly, as a group, are no specifically represented politi cally at present. It seems thai their need to have their contri bution to all aspects of life recognised, and their need for s dignified standard of living safe guarded, will be monitored by 8 ministry such as this. ADARDS (Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Society) supports any such move which, presumably by co-operating with the groups already existing to promote the interests of the elderly, will improve the visibility of, and advocacy for, the needs of the elderly. — Yours, etc., CAROLINE OLIVER, for the ADARDS - ,'ii Canterbury executive.
