Neda shareholding in Premier

Premier Mining Securities has a new principal shareholder, Hokitika’s Neda Investments, one of whose executives is believed to include a Premier director, Mr Bruce Smith. He was chairman of Prodigal Gold before that company became Consolidated Hardwood Industries, at which point he relinquished his involvement. Mr Smith stepped in to lift

the ailing Premier company last year, after the parent, Charter Corporation, was put in receivership. Premier’s chairman, Mr Ron Jones, told the company’s annual meeting on Tuesday that Neda had provided unsecured subordinated loans so Premier could begin joint venture mining operations to provide essential cashflow.

The finance would also allow Premier to continue exploration programmes on its own licences.

Premier was also earning fees from management and consulting activities with other West Coast companies.

Premier expected a modest profit this financial year, Mr Jones said.
