Chatfield to help Canadian cricket
NZPA-AAP Toronto International cricket invades Canada on Sunday to make its debut at the world's newest major sporting facility — Toronto’s Skydome — and a former New Zealand test bowler, Ewen Chatfield, will be in the lineup before an expected 40,000 people. An Australian paceman, Geoff Lawson, will captain the Rest of the World team against the West Indies, while Ashes heroes Steve Waugh, Dean Jones and Merv Hughes complete the Australian contingent. Apart from Chatfield, the Rest of the World lineup also includes English bowlers Angus Fraser and Derek' Pringle, Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas, Duleep Mendis from Sri Lanka and Canadian Farook Kirmani. Sunday’s match will be staged by the United Way — an annual fund raising organisation that provides money to various Canadian charities. Interest has been so great that 30,000 tickets already have been, 501 d,,. West Indies (to be chosen from) : Viv Richards, Desmond Haynes, Richie Richardson, Curtley Ambrose, Winston Benjamin, Malcolm Marshall, Carlisle Best, Jeff Dujon, Gus Logie, Phil Simmons, lan Bishop, Keith Arthurson, Courtney Walsh, Robert Haynes.
