Aims of awards
The aim of the awards at branch level is to stimulate public participation in architecture by: • Increasing public awareness of good design • Increasing public knowledge of the services offered by architects • Increasing exposure of the profession • Setting new standards in design. ■' The philosophy underpinning the awards aims to draw public attention
to a variety of work by architects at local level. The awards process provides the architectural profession with an opportunity to show the diversity of work they are capable of. Branch level awards are not ranked. The idea underlying a local award is to provide tangible testimony that a building is particularly worthy of public attention.
