Trans-Tasman poll
Sir,—“Most in New Zealand envy Australia"? This emotive and misleading headline to last Wednesday’s article about the Trans-Tasman Survey is not backed up by the figures quoted in the survey. The fact that 86 per cent of New Zealanders want to live in their own country, and only 7 per cent would choose to live in Australia (given the choice) clearly outweighs the other figures quoted. Thinking that Australia is wealthy and pleasant does not imply that we “envy” Australians. — Yours etc., ’ LIZ MILNE. October 20, 1989.
