Vice-regal bird watch
The Governor-General, Sir Paul Reeves, will open the kotuku visiting season in South Westland on November 1. The kotuku, or white heron, is the symbol of the 1990 Celebrations. Its only nesting place is the Okarito Lagoon in South Westland. Organised visits to the nesting colony run from November to February.
