Crime rate prompts bank to shut branch
By
MICHAEL RENTOUL
Two armed robberies and a burglary at the Phillipstown PostBank in the last 12 months have prompted a decision to close it on December 22, says the regional general manager of PostBank, Mr Dave Smith. Postßank yesterday announced further rationalisation moves in a $5O million programme. A refurbished Linwood City branch, opening in. December, was near the Phillipstown
branch, Mr Smith said. Postßank’s Ham branch would close on December 22, but a new outlet would open at Upper Riccarton and the Merrin branch was close, he said.
A new Armagh Street branch would open on November 6, replacing the existing one in Victoria Street.
The Amberley agency would close on December 22 because of the low level of business, said Mr Smith.
