Situations Vacant Situations Vacant SALMON SERVICES (NEW ZEALAND) LTD SALMON SERVICES (NEW ZEALAND) Ltd is a Joint Company formed between The New Zealand Salmon Co Ltd and Regal Salmon Ltd to provide feed for their salmon farming operations. This new stand-alone company is based on the former Feed Division of N.Z. Salmon Co. As production is to increase substantially, two people are required to join the existing team at the feed manufacturing plant based in Woolston, Christchurch. PRODUCTION MANAGER A person with production skills is required as Production Manager. This position is new, created by internal promotion and the planned expansion. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of the plant. Applicants must have proven production, personnel management and communication skills, with underlying technical knowledge of plant development and maintenance. Experience in the stockfeed or related industry will be an advantage but is not essential. As the plant will be operating shifts, applicants must be willing to work outside normal hours at times. This is a challenging role in the rapidly expanding aquaculture service industry, and a competitive salary will be negotiated. SENIOR CLERK The role of Senior Clerk is also new, as Salmon Services will be operating independently of its parents. This is a position of responsibility, with a range of clerical and administrative duties, and the holder will report to the General Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for payroll; processing of debtors and creditors; preparation of returns and financial reports to trial balance stage; control of records; and general office duties Including some word processing. SAWMILL MANAGEMENT ADVISER Kingdom of Tonga A challenging assignment for a Sawmill Management Adviser has arisen in Tonga to assist in the development and commercialisation of government sawmilling. The position is with the Forestry Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests, and Fisheries and is funded by New Zealand's Official Development Assistance Programme. The position is based in Nuku' alofa the capital city of Tonga, and would involve periodic travel throughout Tonga. The assignment is for two years, commencing in early 1990. Applicants should have had at least 5 years sawmill management experience, including some knowledge of machining, and treatment plant operation. The emphasis will be on candidates with good business skills, a developmental perspective, some training experience, and preferably with previous sawmilling experience in the Pacific Islands.
