Ambassador appointed
Mr Christopher Butler, a divisional director in the Ministry of External Relations and Trade, would be New Zealand’s next Ambassador to South Korea, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Marshall, has announced. Mr Butler would take up his appointment early next year. At present he was director of the Ministry’s north Asia division. Mr Butler, married with four children, was New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Bonn from 1979- to 1983 and served in Peking from 1984 to 1986. He will take over the South Korean post from Mr David Holborow, who has been there since 1984.—PA.
