Andrew McCormick and John Buchan answered the call of the Canterbury A rugby selector, Frank Jack, for all 20 of its representative matches this season.
Buchan, a former All Black hooker, has played '32'successive matches for Canterbury and 86 in total; McCormick, a crunching tackler at centre has an unbroken sequence of 31, and 33 in all since making his debut against West Coast last season.
Robbie Deans, who became Canterbury’s biggest points-scorer in its history
in the season as well as setting a new season’s high of 279, arid the re-cord-breaking try-scoring wing, Paula Bale, contributed 375 of the team’s 613 points. Deans also broke his own records for' most conversions .and most penalty goals in a season. The old marks were 46 and 39, they now become 51 and 50. As well he equalled his record of 10 conversions in a match. Both Robbie and his younger brother, Bruce, have scored 30 tries for Canterbury. ,
