Volunteers needed
Christchurch volunteers are needed to help collect for the Arthritis Foundation’s national appeal this week and on Monday. The appeal’s national chairman, Mr Dick Tayler, said the foundation hoped to raise $650,000 to $700,000 nationally. Volunteers were still needed for the Christchurch appeal, particularly those able to cover Linwood or Cashmere, he
said. Anyone able to help should telephone 483-807. About 50 per cent of the money raised nationally would be spent on the foundation’s welfare field officers who provided valuable assistance to sufferers and their families, said Mr Tayler. The foundation was also funding research into arthritis at the University of Otago Medical School and the Auckland School of Medicine.
