Quinn president Terry Quinn has been elected president of the Auckland Trotting Club. Mr Quinn, the former vicepresident, outpolled Jack Maich. Mr Quinn received 859 votes; Mr Maich 188. There were 51 informal votes. The position of vice-president was also clear-cut, with Cliff Koefoed receiving 543 votes. The unsuccessful candidates were Bert Harris (339) and Gordon Paul (170).—PA. ‘Tina’ bows out The former New Zealand mare, - Smooth Tina, bowed out of racing on a winning note when she scored an ail-the-way win over some of Queensland’s best mares in the Dulux Queen Of Hearts Pace (2100 m at Albion Park on Saturday night. Smooth Tina (8-1) was well-rated by former Tasmanian reinsman Nathan Postlethwaite, scoring by four metres from the 11-8 favourite, New Arrival, in a swift 1:58 mile rate for the mobile 2100 m. Happy Haldon (7-4) produced yet another strong effort to claim third place, eight metres away, after racing'without cover throughout.
