Changes to ‘Listener’
PA Wellington Changes to the “Listener” magazine are expected to be announced in a television broadcast tomorrow morning. The editor-in-chief of the “Listener,” Mr Geoff Bayliss, yesterday declined to detail the changes but said they did involve a new look for the “Listener.” The broadcast was aimed at advertisers and people directly involved with that magazine. It is understood the broadcast will include details of a new liftout television
section within the magazine, including TV3 listings, and a more hard-news edge to articles.
Mr Bayliss said talks had been held with TV3 executives who had been assured the “Listener” was totally independent from Television New Zealand and Radio New Zealand, which own it jointly. Mr Bayliss refuted suggestions the 9 a.m. broadcast on TVI would cover rumoured plans by T.V.N.Z. and R.N.Z. to bring in a private sector equity partner.
